Rolly Sunga of SUPRA emerged as the undisputed champion in the first Philippine Homing Pigeon Association (PHA) – McArthur National Race Peter Yap Cup held here last March 25.
Sunga’s winning entry — a blue bar cock out of Taiwan cross Janssen line bloodline with PHA11-9029608 — made a speed of 722.84 meter per minute to capture top honors in the prestigious, one-day event held in honor of Peter Yap.
Luis Chiu of PHA and Arvie Victorino of SRPC finished second and third, respectively.
Chiu’s blue cheque cock out of Van Den Broucke and Jan Aarden bloodline with PHA11-9025908 clinched runner-up honors with a speed of 718.27 meter per minute.
Victorino’s blue Cheque white cock out of Lix Ang bloodline and PHA11-9044093 came in third with a speed of 641.38 meter per minute.
Fourth place went to Aris Alcantara of SUPRA and his blue bar hen out of Janssen cross Taiwan bloodline and PHA11-9029765, which made a speed of 641.38 meter per minute.
In fifth place was Ricson Asilum of PHA and his pencil cock out of De Buijn bloodline with PHA 11-9025793, which made a speed of 641.38 meter per minute.
The other notable finishers were Benito Go Que of PHA and his blue bar hen out of pure old line and PHA 11-9026388 with a speed of 641.38 meter per minute, sixth place; and Joel Co of MVPA and his black cheque hen out of Beckaert and Andre Lietar cross Jose Torres bloodline and PHA 11-9026866 with a speed of 641.38 meter per minute, seventh.
PHA president Jaime Lim said a total of seven birds out of 534 birds from 251 lofts were clocked. The birds were released at about 6:15 a.m. for the approximately 720 kilometers air distance.
Nelson Chua served as the racing chairman. Meanwhile, Ricson Asilum and his PHA Band No.11-9018106 topped the McArthur, Leyte leg of the PHA also held last March 25.
Asilum’s pencil cock out of De Bruijin line made a speed of 574.87 meters to emerge as the lone qualifier out of 19 birds from 12 lofts to the PHA McArthur race.
